"Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven." Luke 6:37 ☦
"Christ is the only exit from this world; all other exits - sexual rapture, political utopia, economic independence - are but blind alleys in which rot the corpses of the many that have tried them." - Fr. Seraphim Rose
The Triumph of Orthodoxy
Today the Orthodox Church celebrates the Triumph of Orthodoxy on the 1st Sunday of Great Lent. This feast was established in the 9th century to celebrate the Church’s victory over the heresy of iconoclasm. There have been many heretics that have tried to defeat the Orthodox Church over its 2000-year history, but as our Lord said, "the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" (Matthew 16:18).
We all place our FAITH in the AUTHORITY of something
Many people have chosen to worship at the altar of the RELIGION of Scientism. The devotees of Scientism BELIEVE that science is the supreme epistemological AUTHORITY for knowing truth. Yet, the members of the Church of Scientism only choose to place their FAITH in the divine AUTHORITY of some scientists, while rejecting the AUTHORITY of other scientists. We all place our FAITH in the AUTHORITY of something. What do you place your FAITH in?
That faith which has been believed everywhere, always, by all
Some
may ask, "What on earth is the Orthodox Church?" Simply put, the Orthodox
Church is "that faith which has been believed everywhere, always, by
all" (St. Vincent of Lerins, 5th century).
